The Last of the Crooners
The Last of the Crooners is a visual and audio ode to the singers and musicians that play at The Palm Tree pub every weekend. The Palm Tree, a diamond boozer and Blitz survivor, stands solitary on the Regent's Canal between Mile End and the Roman Road in London. It's a pub that quietly, but firmly, resists the urge to move with the times. On weekend evenings you can enjoy the jazz standards of the Great American Songbook.
The project is a unique collaboration between photographer Tom Oldham and musician and producer Andy Gangadeen captures the artists in a glorious series of atmospheric portraits, and on an accompanying LP.
Working closely with Tom, 59deluxe helped create the look and feel of the project by producing a number of promotional pieces and also the design of the limited edition LP and booklet.
The portraits themselves won first prize in the Sony Photography awards. See more at tomoldham.com.
